Did Pokémon Snap Fail To See the Picture?

Earlier today during the Pokémon Presents video, we were informed that a new Pokémon Snap game is in the works.

This was a very exciting announcement for me as I have wanted them to announce a Pokémon Snap sequel for years. While I am excited that the game looks to be faithful to the first game, part of me is surprised it is not a mobile game.

The idea of a mobile Pokémon Snap almost makes too much sense. The idea that the user could be walking down the road with your phone taking pictures of the various Pokémon that appear on mailboxes and street signs.

While I love that the game is coming to Switch and I will definitely own the game, I also think they are missing out on a mobile Snap game.

I personally would love it if both versions of the game existed and they found a way to give you rewards in the Switch version for taking pictures of Pokémon on your phone.

The rewards could come in the form of cosmetics for your vehicle, character or camera. There could also be berries and items that help draw out better Pokémon on levels.

I think that ultimately a Snap game on the Switch won’t be as interesting as a Snap game was on the N64, so I would love to see them add the cell phone app to help give the snap brand more staying power.

Ultimately, we will have to see what New Pokémon Snap truly is and if it is the “Breath of the Wild” of Pokémon Snap. We will have to see whenever it is released later on Nintendo Switch.
